Service Description
Decorate and Fire your own Pot! My Raku kiln will be set up back behind Cliff Dwellers Gallery for Hands On Gatlinburg 2026. Select from different shapes and decorating techniques to fire and take home your own distinctive piece of pottery. Glazes, Horse Hair and Mica slips will be available to finish off pre-bisqued pottery. Shapes will include vases, bottles, wall sconces and card/eyeglass holders. Brushes for the glazes and wax for the horse hair pots will be provided. Dates include Friday May 1, Saturday May 2, Friday May 8, Saturday May 9, Friday May 15 and Saturday May 16. Firings will begin at 10:00 am and the last group will be at 4:00 pm each day. All pieces will be priced at $25.00 each or 2 for $48.00. Sales Tax will be added. All participants glazing a pot have the option of pulling their piece out of the kiln and putting it into the reduction can. For all those who wish to do this, please wear long pants, a long shirt and closed toe shoes for safety. Anyone doing the horse hair will be laying the hair on their pot. Due to the high heat of the kiln (1800o F) everyone participating will need to sign a personal injury waiver which will be provided at the venue. Also be aware of smoke coming out of the reduction cans. Walk-ins are always welcome. To book this class in advance, please Contact Cliff Dwellers Gallery 865-436-6921
